Outlasting Mortality.

Spread the love

“Never take life seriously, because none gets out of that alive”.

Blog Post About This Poem.

The weight of worries on our brows we wear
As though the world under our feet twists we fear,
Time through space stretches unquestioned, unquestioning,
It waits not for any plans of ours to complete.

Fortunes, fame, and power we chase in days numbered,
Oh’, we own none of the illusions our senses feel.
And we feel time stealing all in mortal silence,
Fate’s inevitability, Oh’, none in any way can cheat.

Live as if time and space do not exist,
Find in laughter the rhythm to dance in Spring’s warmth,
Let freedom be the best friend, not the enemy feared.
As none escapes this world of mortality, no matter how they try.

That thought deep in my mind I carried as days passed,
And that face, her peace-filled eyes, and smile of autumn warmth,
Filled through veins a feeling in youthful days I abandoned,
Ah’, the arrival of love outgunned the arrival of spring.

Mortality may bury flesh, veins, and bones but not memories,
When time itself falls victim to the inevitable fate,
The wilderness of nothing still will echo the beat of my heart,
That echoes the whispers of my love for her from God I earned.
